History of The George Ballroom
The George Hotel was originally opened in 1857. While St Kilda has changed in the time since then the George Ballroom has not!
Built at the same time as the George Hotel’s Corner building (1985 - pictured), the George Ballroom was originally a dining room for the hotel guests before they realised it was the ideal venue for major events.
After extensive water damage in 2013, the building was restored in partnership with Heritage Victoria. We are proud to say that nothing has been modernised, from the magnificent gilded mirror to the distressed paint peeling down the walls, it’s meant to feel exactly like it always has.
In 2015 it was re-opened by DAMM FINE FOOD Co. and is available for hire for events and filming and photography. You can find out the history of the venue here.
